Woogaroo Sewer Trunk Main

A Critical Portfolio Works Contract (CPWC) was formed in response to the required upgrades to the wastewater infrastructure in the Ipswich region. This contract included the design and construction of the Woogaroo Trunk Sewer Main. These works were awarded to Thiess.

Thiess then went to competitive tender to deliver 2.1km of gravity trunk sewer mains via microtunnelling construction techniques and the construction of the associated manhole infrastructure. WDS was awarded the Subcontract to complete these works.

Bamser Involvement In The Project

Bamser were engaged by WDS to provide the Project Manager for the Microtunnelling Subcontract. Bamser was to ensure the delivery success of the microtunnelling on the Woogaroo Trunk Sewer Main.

The scope of the Subcontract included:

• Construction of over 1km of 1200mm ID HDPE lined concrete jacking pipe over 3 drives;
• Construction of over 1km of 1500mm ID HDPE lined concrete jacking pipe over 2 drives;
• Construction of 4 temporary segmentally lined shafts via underpinning or caisson construction methods.
• Construction of 4 temporary shotcrete and rock bolted shafts.
• Construction of 8 permanent manholes;
• HDPE welding of the pipe and manhole joints;
• Vacuum testing of the tunnels and manholes;
• CCTV inspection.

Specifically, Bamser have provided the following services:

• Management of the field and office based construction team;
• Management of the Subcontract with the Client;
• Management of the temporary works design;
• Reporting construction progress to the Client and WDS;
• Controlling Project finances and cash flow;
• Compiling monthly claims;
• Management of Subcontractors.
