QCLNG Upstream Project

MCJV (McConnell Dowell – Consolidated Contracting Company Joint Venture) has been appointed as the Contractor for the QCLNG Export Pipeline and the Gas Collection Header Project. The contract includes the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of 580 km of 42 inch steel pipeline. The project includes the construction of 13 individual trenchless road and rail crossings. The crossings are being constructed using various trenchless methodologies, including Augerboring and Microtunnelling.

Bamser Involvement In The Project

Bamser were engaged by MCJV to provide specialist engineering services to assist in the planning, procurement and delivery of the trenchless crossings involved in the QLCNG Upstream Project. Specifically, these services included:

• Crossing design development;
•Geotechnical assessment and subsequent recommendation of trenchless methodologies;
• Preparation of works documentation including:
- Development of the construction programme;
- Detailed Scope of Works and Specification for tender package;
- Construction Method Statements for trenchless crossings works;
- Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs);
- Pipe Installation methodology.
• Assisting in the approvals process with key stakeholders including Queensland Rail, Department of Transport and Main Roads and the Client;
• Tender assessment and award recommendation;
• Aiding the construction team with the delivery of the trenchless scope.
