Description of Project

The F3-M2 link will be a twin tunnel motorway with capacity for three lanes in each direction. The tunnels will be approximately 8 kilometres in length and have a minimum posted speed of 80 kilometres per hour.

The $2.65 billion toll road project will also include a northern interchange connecting with the F3 Motorway, the Pacific Highway and Pennant Hills Road and a southern interchange connecting with the Hills M2 Motorway and Pennant Hills Road.

Bamser Involvement in the Project

Bamser were engaged on the project during the tendering phase to assist the Thiess John Holland JV with construction planning and constructability analysis. Specifically, Bamser provided support in the following areas:
• Identification and selection of potential construction sites
• Development of site layout and accesses for both tunnelling and back end works for identified sites;
• Preparation of risk assessment documentation for site selection;
• Preparation of drawings and method statements for tender submission
• Selection of excavation methods and sequencing;
• Development back end works methodologies and programming, particularly optimisation of pavements;
• Development of production rates for excavation and back end works;
• Development and assessment of waterproofing methods;
• Assist in development of construction programme and costings; and
• Sourcing of tender pricing for major procurement items.
